Many people view the word “hood” as something violent, brutal, or gang-oriented. However, “hood” is derived from the word “neighborhood.” A neighborhood is an area set apart for a purpose, shaped by its unique characteristics and the people who live there. In that sense, everyone is “hood,” because everyone belongs to a neighborhood.
So the question becomes: what hood are you claiming? Are you Helping Others Obtain Direction, or Helping Others Obtain Destruction?
We are here to help others obtain direction. We are here to guide one another toward higher education, to provide support through brotherhood and sisterhood, to show compassion to others and ourselves, and to lead each other toward success—and to sustain that success.

The mission is to help each other and others to succeed in life by providing education, direction, compassion, and brotherhood/ sisterhood in at-risk communities.

The vision of H.O.O.D is to empower brothers and sisters to be active citizens in their communities by meeting the needs in at-risk areas, creating non-violent socials, and partnering with other organizations to help meet the needs in our local communities.
